Lintar Brillian Pintakami

Abstract

Community-Joint Forest Management Program is a government effort to restore the damaged forest, in which Desa Bayem is involved in it. This study aims to identify the role of female farmers in the program to achieve household welfare. Qualitative methods were used. The site was determined purposively, that is Bayem Village, Malang, Indonesia. Respondents identified using snowball sampling. The key informant is a local farmer, man or woman, living around site’s forest area. Meanwhile, the supporting sources are set purposively, which are consist of formal or non-formal community leaders, village officials, and state forest enterprises officer. Using gender, qualitative, and income contribution analysis we found that the role of female farmers in Community-Joint Forest Management Program is still less optimal, while they can contribute an equal amount to household income compared to male farmers, which is Rp. 16.981.900 per year of 50%. However, female farmers still play their reproductive role on household while men are not.
